Chipped Ham Barbecue Sandwiches

With all the sweet and smoky flavors of the barbecue made right on the stovetop, these satisfying sandwiches are stuffed with shredded ham, basted in a sweet glaze of brown sugar, cinnamon, smoke and spices, and served warm.
Ingredients
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup sweet pickle relish
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground black pepper
- 1 pinch garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
- 1 pound chipped ham (or shaved ham)
- 6 hamburger buns
Cooking Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine the ketchup, water, brown sugar, cider vinegar, sweet pickle relish and Worcestershire sauce. Stir in the cinnamon, black pepper, garlic salt and liquid smoke. Bring to a simmer over low heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Shred the ham and stir into the mixture. Simmer longer if desired, then serve hot on hamburger buns. The mixture can also be frozen.
